Medical Care

The Pro-Care Spine & Medical Center offers a wide variety of medical care including general chronic and acute disease management, comprehensive diagnostic testing, complete physicals and pain management. One large difference between the medicine at the Pro-Care Spine & Medical Center and other clinics is the immediate availability of physical medicine. This tight integration of internal and physical medicine serves to great improve outcomes for most neurological, muscular and skeletal conditions.

Management of acute and chronic conditions

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid problems
  • Musculoskeletal injuries including Carpal Tunnel
  • Arthritis
  • Anemia
  • Bowel and intestinal problems
  • Rash and skin problems
  • Back, chest, and abdominal pain
  • Headaches
  • Complete physical exam

During the exam, your doctor will record your medical history and check your blood pressure, vision, and weight and height to measure your body mass index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. Your doctor will check to make sure that you are up-to-date with preventive screenings and services, such as cancer screening and shots. Depending on your general health and medical history, further tests may be ordered if necessary. For example, a person at risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm may get a referral for a one-time screening ultrasound at their physical exam. Your doctor will also give you advice to help you prevent disease, improve your health or stay well. You will also get a written plan (such as a checklist) when you leave letting you know which screenings and other preventive services you should get.

We have many diagnostic tools at our disposal in-house. For instance, we have a diagnostic ultrasound that is able to perform echo-cardiograms, screen for abdominal aneurisms, detect peripheral arterial disease, and dozens of other useful tests. We can also perform nerve conduction studies and needle-EMGs on-site as well. These tests help us determine nerve interference and damage in patients with neuromuscular issues.

Pain management

We see many patients come through our doors where they are in so much pain that it is impossible to put them through a physical medicine program. The pain can originate from many sources, but the result is that without the ability to complete a physical medicine program due to intense pain, the long-term prognosis for most conditions is not favorable. We use pain management to reduce pain to a sufficient level as to permit the patient to complete a physical medicine program. In some cases, it allows the patient to complete a program that would have otherwise been impossible while in other cases, it allows the patient to be more aggressive with the treatment program and achieve more expedient results. We combine the use of prescription drugs and injections to get the desired amount of pain reduction.
